“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”

Poor, Starving, Struggling Athletes

10/13/2013 17:41
When trying to decided what I wanted my message to be this month I came across a story that hit a little too close to home.              I am asked all the time if I get paid to vault.  My...

Having a team in an individualized sport

08/03/2013 09:51
Pole vault is an individual sport.  You are the only one on the back of the runway.  If you miss the bar, it was on you.  If you make it, you did it.  Or is it more of a team sport than we realize? Being the only athlete at the nursing campus, I never felt a part of the Linfield...

Whoever Said Dreaming Was Easy?

07/02/2013 14:02

05/20/2013 16:14
I Believe In You: The powers of a cheerleader.   Why do you think there is a “home court advantage”?  As an athlete, I know the difference it can make when you have a huge crowd cheering for you.  You feed off of the positive atmosphere.  In Physiology class my sophomore year at...

What makes you happy?

03/10/2013 12:24
What make you happy?  What would you not want to live without?   For the past four years I was a big advocate for people to have multiple dreams.  I ran myself into the ground training for pole vault and completing my bachelors of science in nursing, but I did it.  I...

Vaulters Block

11/11/2012 15:12
Vaulters Block:  The mental inability for a pole vaulter to leave the ground. If you have been a pole vaulter for more than a couple months, you know what vaulters block is.  As I put in the self- definition of the phrase, it is the MENTAL inability for a vaulter to leave the ground....
